The spring months bring a lot of newborns into the world, which is why this time of the year is referred to as Kitten Season. It is common to find kittens outside, and it is important to remember to leave them alone if they are in a safe spot and their mother is caring for them.
If you are extremely certain that the kittens are orphaned, you can then step in and help by caring for the kittens until they’re old enough to find homes. The Atlanta Humane Society is here to help and is offering Grow-a-Kitten kits so you can have the supplies and tips you’ll need to help raise kittens during this crucial time.
What’s included?
Kitten kits are tailored to each kitten’s unique situation. Depending on the age and status of the kitten(s), we will provide:
- Age-appropriate food, dishes, and supplements
- A litter box, scoop, and litter
- A crate, blanket, and rice socks to ensure a safe and comfortable environment
- Grooming supplies
- Toys
- Access to knowledgeable staff and volunteers regarding kitten care and concerns
Found a cat outdoors?
Community cats are unowned, free-roaming cats that may or may not be friendly toward people. While a community cat might look the same as a lost or stray pet cat, community cats survive by avoiding close human interaction.
We highly recommend that you ensure any unowned or feral cats in our community are spayed and neutered. We work with a variety of local community cat organizations that help us provide this resource (in addition to vaccines) to cats. Please visit our TNR resource list to find a local partner near you.
